📖 About Richard C. Sullivan Public Library of Wilton Manors

The Richard C. Sullivan Public Library of Wilton Manors has operated as an independent city library since opening in June 1957 — first staffed by volunteers in a shop on Wilton Drive before moving to a refurbished Village Hall on NE 26th Street. The library doubled in size in 1960, underwent renovations in 1984, and in 2003 opened its current purpose-built facility, funded by a $350,000 bond and a $300,000 state grant. The library is named in honor of Richard C. Sullivan, who donated $40,000 to furnish the children's wing and, upon his death in November 2005, left a bequest of $280,000 that paid off the building's remaining bond debt. The City Commission renamed the library in his honor on May 9, 2006. The library celebrated its 50th anniversary in December 2007 and today holds over 40,000 books, magazines, videos, and audiobooks. It is a member of the Southeast Florida Library Information Network (SEFLIN), giving cardholders access to digital borrowing through OverDrive/Libby and the statewide Florida Electronic Library.
