📖 About Moorhead Public Library
Moorhead Public Library traces its roots to July 12, 1906, when it opened with 1,000 books and librarian Nelle Olson, funded by a $10,000 Carnegie grant secured by attorney George E. Perley. Today the branch anchors Lake Agassiz Regional Library (LARL) — the second regional library system formed in Minnesota (June 1, 1961) and the first built from an already established rural network. The library relocated to its current address at 450 Center Ave as part of the City of Moorhead's Downtown Development Project, moving into The Loop, a signature mixed-use complex that places the library alongside the Spark Center for Entrepreneurship, meeting rooms, and an indoor children's play area. Across the LARL system, cardholders can borrow from more than 42,000 eBooks and eAudiobooks through OverDrive/Libby, and access statewide research databases through eLibrary Minnesota.
