Lexington is a town of about 727 residents in Lauderdale County, Alabama, part of the Florence–Muscle Shoals Metropolitan Statistical Area known as 'The Shoals,' sitting at 764 feet elevation and spanning 3.24 square miles. The town incorporated in 1959 and experienced strong growth through the 1970s. Two of Lexington's sons are honored nationally: Don Leslie Michael, a posthumous Medal of Honor recipient for his valor in Vietnam, and Frank Nunley, a linebacker for the San Francisco 49ers who played 139 NFL games.
