Pequannock Township Public Library serves the approximately 15,000 residents of Pequannock Township in Morris County, New Jersey. The library's roots reach back to 1931, when a collection was placed at the Pequannock School, but it became an independent municipal library after voters approved a referendum on November 7, 1961. The first Board of Trustees was appointed in January 1962, and the library has grown steadily since, eventually settling in its current 15,000-square-foot Colonial building at 477 Newark Pompton Turnpike in Pompton Plains. Inside, patrons find comfortable reading areas, a colorful children's room, a teen section, two community meeting spaces (The Meeting Room and Ginny's Corner), a dedicated Historic Room for local research, and two study rooms.
