Clewiston Public Library has served south-central Florida's sugarcane capital since January 15, 1941, when it was founded to meet the reading and educational needs of a rapidly growing agricultural community on the south shore of Lake Okeechobee. The library operates at 120 W. Osceola Avenue as one of three locations in the Hendry County Library System — alongside Barron Library and Florida B. Thomas Library — with a combined collection of over 87,000 volumes circulating approximately 50,500 items each year.
