📖 About North Regional Library

North Regional Library sits at 1315 Lowry Avenue North in the Near North community of Minneapolis. It opened October 24, 1971, designed by the Minneapolis firm Miller Dunwiddie as a large regional branch consolidating several older neighborhood libraries. Two major investments have kept it current: a $4.57 million renovation in 2007 and a roughly $9 million project in 2020–21 that added study rooms, meeting spaces and outdoor areas. The branch reflects North Minneapolis directly — its art includes photography by Wing Young Huie and a mobile made from 1,000 cranes folded by neighborhood residents in the summer of 2008. Programming is built around the community's needs, with Hmong-language support several days a week, job-search help through HIRED and city partnerships, and teen homework tutoring. More than 40 public computers plus wireless access make it a genuine technology resource for the North Side.
