The Landa Branch — formally the Hannah Landa Memorial Library — occupies the Italian-style former residence of Harry and Hannah Landa, who lived here from 1929 to 1946 before the estate was given to San Antonio for use as a public library. The house still displays original European furnishings and artwork the couple gathered during their travels abroad, giving the branch a character unlike any other in the system. Its five-acre grounds were restored by the Landa Gardens Conservancy, with work completed in 2008, and the building itself saw further renovation in 2017. The library is an active community hub, hosting more than 600 programs a year alongside a collection of roughly 38,500 volumes. It sits within the Monte Vista Historical District, near cultural neighbors such as the Witte Museum and Trinity University.
