The Lemon City Branch Library is part of the Miami-Dade Public Library System and sits in the heart of Little Haiti, the neighborhood historically known as Lemon City — one of the earliest settlements north of the Miami River, dating to the late 1880s. The branch is recognized as the historically oldest library location in Miami-Dade County, anchoring a community that evolved from a frontier port town into a hub of Haitian culture and Caribbean heritage. Today the branch is a neighborhood cornerstone offering extended evening hours three nights a week, a dedicated YOUmedia Miami studio where teens and young adults learn animation, podcasting, music production, photography, and screenwriting, and U.S. passport acceptance services. Drive-up Wi-Fi, mobile printing, seed-share community gardening, and a full calendar of early literacy and adult programs round out its offerings. Cardholders also gain full access to the Florida Electronic Library (FEL), the statewide digital resource that unlocks millions of eBooks, databases, and streaming titles.
