About Brown County Central Library

The Brown County Central Library, located at 515 Pine Street in the heart of downtown Green Bay, serves as the flagship branch of the Brown County Library System. Established in the late 19th century, it has grown into a cornerstone of community learning for northeastern Wisconsin. The library is home to a dedicated Local History and Genealogy Department, making it an invaluable resource for residents researching their roots and Wisconsin heritage. The building also features the beloved Cellcom Children's Edible Garden, a creative space that merges literacy with environmental education.

The Central Library provides a rich array of digital services, including eBook and audiobook access through Libby, streaming video via Kanopy and Hoopla, and numerous online research databases. It partners with the MORE (Midwest Cooperative for Resource Exchange) library consortium, allowing Green Bay cardholders to borrow from libraries across the region. Programs for children, teens, and adults are offered year-round, along with community meeting rooms and free public Wi-Fi.
