<p>The Richard E. Ostrander West Valley Community Library opened in 2012 as Yakima Valley Libraries' dedicated branch for the growing west Yakima neighborhoods along the Yakima-Selah corridor. Named in honor of Richard E. Ostrander, the branch was purpose-built to meet demand from a part of the county that had lacked convenient library access. It now serves as one of the system's highest-traffic locations, hosting regular Baby Lapsit sessions for infants and caregivers and offering extended weekday hours to 7 PM. In 2025, Yakima Valley Libraries recorded over 402,000 visitors and circulated 849,000 items systemwide — West Valley is a significant contributor to both figures.</p>
