📖 About Fort Worth History Center
The Fort Worth History Center is the Fort Worth Public Library's dedicated local-history, genealogy and archives facility, which opened in October 2022 at 501 E. Bolt Street. It succeeded the library's former Local History, Genealogy & Archives unit, giving Fort Worth's historical records a purpose-built home. The center is open to the public with both walk-in visits and scheduled research appointments. Its collections cover Fort Worth and Tarrant County history — yearbooks, city directories, maps, newspapers and books — alongside genealogy resources strongest for the Southern and Midwestern United States and the original thirteen colonies. Researchers can use Ancestry.com Library Edition on-site. Note that archival collections are stored offsite and require three business days' notice for retrieval, so calling or emailing staff ahead is recommended for archive materials.
