📖 About Beulah Public Library
The Beulah Public Library was established on February 1, 1931, as a project of the Beulah Woman's Club, which had been organized in 1930. It first opened in the east foyer of the Roxy Theater and over the next 57 years moved eight times through various homes and commercial spaces in this McLean County city on the western bank of the Missouri River. In 1957 the Woman's Club launched a campaign for a dedicated municipal library building; the library began receiving city funding and in 1985 a formal municipal library board formed. In 1987 the library relocated to a newly renovated wing of city hall built specifically for it, and in 1995 the board hired its first full-time librarian. The library affiliated with the McLean-Mercer Regional Library in Riverdale as early as 1958, and today belongs to the Central Dakota Library Network, which ties together 16-plus public libraries across western North Dakota so that patrons can request and return items from any member branch. The library also maintains a microfilm reader for local newspaper research, access to the Beulah newspapers digital archive, and a collection of Germans from Russia documentary films that reflect McLean County's distinctive heritage.
