About High Point Public Library
High Point Public Library has been the intellectual and cultural center of High Point since its founding in 1926, now marking its centennial year in 2026. Located in the heart of North Carolina's "Furniture Capital of the World," the library serves Guilford County residents with a comprehensive collection of books, periodicals, and digital resources. The current building at 901 N Main Street features spacious reading areas, public computing stations, and dedicated spaces for children and teens.
One of the library's most valued assets is the Heritage Research Center, which houses an extensive genealogy and local history collection — including High Point city directories, historical photographs, and archival materials tracing the city's growth from a small railroad depot to a global furniture industry hub. Digital users benefit from Libby, Kanopy, and the full suite of NCLive statewide databases, available at no charge to all cardholders.
