📖 About Palmer Public Library
The Palmer Public Library is the public library for the Town of Palmer, Massachusetts, a Hampden County community made up of the villages of Depot Village, Three Rivers, Bondsville and Thorndike. Palmer's library efforts date to an 1815 subscription library, and by 1878 the Young Men's Library Association had opened a public reading room in town; the collection later occupied the ground floor of the Romanesque Palmer Memorial Hall until the library moved to its own building at 1455 North Main Street in 1977. Owned and operated by the Town of Palmer, the library is a member of CW/MARS (the Central and Western Massachusetts library consortium of 150-plus libraries), so a Palmer card borrows and requests items across the whole network. Reflecting Palmer's nickname as "The Town of Seven Railroads," the building houses a specialized Railroad Research Center alongside a Local History Room, and rounds out its services with museum passes, meeting rooms and mobile hotspots for loan.
