📖 About Mira Mesa Library

The Mira Mesa Library has anchored the New Salem Street civic corridor since opening at its current location in 1994. At 20,000 square feet, it holds one of the largest collections in the San Diego Public Library system, reflecting Mira Mesa's status as one of San Diego's most ethnically diverse communities. The branch's multilingual stacks include materials in Tagalog, Chinese, Hindi, Korean, Vietnamese, and Spanish — a direct response to the Filipino, Chinese, Vietnamese, and South Asian communities that have shaped the neighborhood since the 1970s. Inside, the library features "Three Rings," a commissioned artwork by sculptor Larry Kirkland whose interlinked themes of Wonder, Explore, Search, and Nurture speak to the library's educational mission. Thirty public computers, a meeting room accommodating 85, and 98 on-site parking spaces round out a branch built to handle Mira Mesa's high demand.
