📖 About Melissa Public Library

The Melissa Public Library serves the City of Melissa in northern Collin County, a community that has grown from under 5,000 residents in 2010 to more than 26,000 by 2025 — one of the fastest-growing cities in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Located at 3411 Barker Avenue and operated by the City of Melissa, the library holds more than 14,000 volumes and circulates approximately 30,000 items per year. Its mission — 'a global reach with local touch' — guides a program calendar that spans early childhood storytimes, teen chess club, adult crafting groups, and senior gaming. In 2025, the library earned its second consecutive Texas Municipal Library Directors Association Achievement of Excellence in Libraries Award, placing it among only 101 of the state's 516 public library systems to receive that recognition. The library runs its catalog on Koha (ByWater Solutions) with Aspen Discovery and offers free Wi-Fi and public computers on-site.
