📖 About Moon Township Public Library
Moon Township Public Library traces its roots to 1979, when local citizens formed a committee to investigate the need for better library service in the rapidly growing township west of Pittsburgh. The nonprofit Friends to Establish a Library for Moon and Crescent Townships (FELMAC) incorporated in 1980, and the library opened its first doors in 1981 inside two Moon Area elementary schools staffed largely by volunteers, including three professional librarians who gave their time. After moves to the Municipal Building and the Public Safety Building basement, the library settled in 1994 at its current address in the Cherrington Office Complex at 1700 Beaver Grade Road. Today it is a full member of Allegheny County Libraries and the county-wide eiNetwork, so a Moon Township card opens borrowing — physical and digital — at every Allegheny County public library. In 2026 the library's programs span children's storytimes, teen clubs, adult seminars and a lively calendar of community events.
