Culbertson Public Library sits on Wyoming Street in Culbertson, Nebraska, a Hitchcock County village settled as a trading post in July 1873 by W. Z. Taylor. The town was named for Alexander Culbertson, a celebrated Upper Missouri fur trader, and served as Hitchcock County's original county seat from 1873 until Trenton won a contested election in 1893.
