Nampa Public Library is the public library of Nampa, Idaho, the largest city in Canyon County and the third-largest in the state. Its roots reach back to a reading room organized in 1900, with the first library building opening in March 1908; Ennis McGee was hired as the first librarian in 1907. After decades in earlier quarters — including a First Security Bank building it moved into in 1966 — the library opened its current 62,000-square-foot, three-story home at 215 12th Avenue South on March 14, 2015, a downtown landmark known for its three-story feature wall and a hanging sculpture in the lobby. Owned and operated by the City of Nampa, the library has belonged to the LYNX! Consortium since 1980, so one Nampa card borrows across a network of southern Idaho public libraries through a shared catalog. Today it pairs a large physical collection with a makerspace, a dedicated Teen Loft, a Local History collection with microfilm, meeting and study rooms, and a bookmobile that carries service out into the community.
