Founded in 1959, Montgomery County Library has served the residents of the Ouachita Mountains from its home at 145A Whittington Street in Mount Ida — the Quartz Crystal Capital of the World. The library is part of the Ouachita Mountains Regional Library, a two-county system linking it with Polk County Library in Mena since 2010. Its collection spans bestsellers, DVDs, audiobooks, Blu-rays, magazines, and newspapers alongside a dedicated genealogy corner stocked with Montgomery County census abstracts (1850–1920), cemetery records, will and marriage record books, deed records, local newspapers on microfilm, and the county history Montgomery County: Our Heritage — one of the most complete local-history research collections in the Arkansas Ouachitas.
