The Anderson County Library System serves Anderson County from nine locations plus a bookmobile: Anderson Main, Westside, Powdersville, Pendleton, Piedmont, Williamston, Belton, Iva, and Honea Path. Its main library is in downtown Anderson at 300 N. McDuffie Street, and the system participates in SC LENDS for shared borrowing across South Carolina.

The Anderson Library Association formed in 1900, and Anderson's Carnegie library opened on February 27, 1908 at the corner of Church and Whitner Streets (built with an $18,700 Carnegie grant matched by a $10,000 gift from Col. Joseph N. Brown; that building now houses the Anderson Arts Center). The library operated there until 1971, when the main library moved to a new building; the Anderson County Library System's main library is today at 300 N. McDuffie Street in downtown Anderson.
Services: Electric City Makerspace, a Seed Library, the LEAP Station, Traveling Trunks, assistive technology, Book-a-Librarian appointments, book clubs, and age-based programs (storytimes, STEAM learning, arts & crafts, computer classes). Part of the SC LENDS shared catalog for interlibrary borrowing.
