📖 About Merced County Library

Merced County Library is the public library serving Merced — the county seat of Merced County and gateway city to Yosemite National Park — as part of the San Joaquin Valley Library System (SJVLS), a regional cooperative that links Central Valley libraries through the shared ValleyCat catalog. The main branch on O Street is led by County Librarian Amy Taylor and offers a full suite of digital resources, bilingual children's programming in English and Spanish, an adult literacy tutoring program called Read & Succeed, and a Makerspace for creative projects. A bookmobile extends the library's reach to rural communities throughout the county. The library participates in SJVLS's Zip Books program, which lets patrons request titles not currently in the system — the book is purchased and delivered to them directly.
