📖 About Bentley Memorial Library

Bolton has offered library services since 1881 — beginning in a corner of a general store, later served by a door-to-door library car, and ultimately anchored by the current building at 206 Bolton Center Road, designed by architect Alan Wiedie and dedicated in 1975 to Elinor Hees Bentley, a beloved longstanding town librarian. The library is affiliated with the Bibliomation network, giving cardholders access to a shared digital collection through Libby alongside Hoopla's on-demand streaming of movies, music, comics, and audiobooks. A Museum Key program provides discounted or free passes to 14 cultural institutions across Connecticut and New England. The study room accommodates up to six people for quiet work or small meetings, and a homebound delivery service ensures residents who cannot visit in person still receive library materials. Borrowing is generous: books circulate for three weeks with one free auto-renewal, and up to seven DVDs can be borrowed each week.
