📖 About Del Norte County Library — Crescent City
The Del Norte County Library District anchors public library service in one of California's most geographically isolated coastal counties, more than 80 miles from the nearest large city. The main branch at 190 Price Mall in Crescent City holds over 56,000 volumes and circulates more than 62,000 items each year, serving residents, students, and visitors drawn to the surrounding redwood parks and Pacific coastline. A second location — the Smith River Branch at 241 First Street — extends service 20 miles north along US-101, open Tuesday through Friday 11 am to 3 pm. The district provides free Mango Languages access, drop-in tutoring through Del Norte Reads, and digital borrowing through the NorthNet OverDrive consortium. A community-supported fundraising campaign is currently underway to build a new library and community center for the county.
