<p>The Fairfield Woods Branch Library opened in 1969 in response to growing demand from Fairfield's Stratfield neighborhood — part of a branch initiative that began in the mid-1930s — and was renovated in 1991 to meet the needs of a growing community. It is the second location of the Fairfield Public Library, a town department whose roots stretch back to a subscription library founded on December 27, 1876, at Fairfield Academy. Today the branch holds over 233,000 items across both Fairfield locations and is open seven days a week, including Sunday afternoons, making it one of the most accessible public libraries in Fairfield County. Cardholders enjoy free access to OverDrive/Libby for eBooks and audiobooks, hoopla for movies and music, and researchIT CT for statewide licensed databases.</p>
