📖 About Butman-Fish Branch Library

The Butman-Fish Branch Library has served the West Side of Saginaw since 1916, when philanthropist William S. Fish commissioned the original building as a living memorial to his wife Mary and her father Myron Butman. The branch grew alongside its neighborhood over the following decades until January 1979, when it relocated to its current purpose-built home at 1716 Hancock Street at a cost of $660,000. Part of the Public Libraries of Saginaw system since the 1926 merger that unified the city's libraries, Butman-Fish provides the full suite of PLS services — borrowing, computers, public Wi-Fi, printing, and digital access through Libby and the Michigan eLibrary — to the communities of West Saginaw.
