📖 About Elko Mybrary
Elko, Nevada is the county seat of Elko County and the commercial hub of the Great Basin region of northeastern Nevada, home to about 20,000 residents and a major center for ranching, mining, and the annual National Cowboy Poetry Gathering. The Elko Mybrary is the headquarters branch of Mybrary, a bi-county library system that encompasses eight branch locations — including Carlin, Crescent Valley, Eureka, Jackpot, Tuscarora, Wells, West Wendover, and the MybraryMobile — collectively serving one of the most sparsely populated yet geographically vast library districts in the United States. The 720 Court Street building sits in downtown Elko near the county courthouse, providing 32 public-access computers with printing, free Wi-Fi throughout, and dedicated children's and young adult areas. Mybrary's unique branding — a playful contraction of 'my' and 'library' — reflects the system's community-oriented mission: meeting patrons where they are, whether that means traveling to remote ranches and mines via the bookmobile or hosting Cowboy Poetry Gathering tie-in events each January in one of America's most literary small cities.
