Portage District Library at 300 Library Lane is supported by a millage paid by taxpayers in the City of Portage and the Portage Public School District, and governed by an elected board with nearly fifty full- and part-time staff. The library offers the full spectrum of borrowing: books, audiobooks, DVDs, mobile hotspots, laptops, adapters, chargers, and telescopes from its Library of Things. A Creation Station Makerspace gives patrons hands-on access to tools and equipment, and EV charging stations in the parking lot serve eco-conscious visitors. Curbside pickup and a home-based delivery service extend access to those who cannot visit in person. Digital resources include Libby by OverDrive, hoopla, Kanopy, Freegal music, and LinkedIn Learning, all available with a Portage card. The library also belongs to MeLCat, Michigan's statewide interlibrary borrowing network, and offers one-on-one technology tutorials on request.
