Linden Hills Library sits at 2900 West 43rd Street in the Linden Hills neighborhood of southwest Minneapolis. The building opened on February 5, 1931, designed in the Tudor Revival style by the firm Bard & Vanderbilt at a cost of about $42,000. It is known for its leaded-glass windows, outdoor terraces, and two historic fireplaces that remain a favorite with neighborhood readers. The branch was designated a Minneapolis landmark in 1997 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. A roughly $2.3 million renovation completed in 2002 added about 1,200 square feet and installed a new stained-glass panel over the entrance by artist Phil Daniel. The library became part of the Hennepin County Library system in 2008.
