📖 About Chandler Park Branch

The Chandler Park Branch opened on March 23, 1957, on land donated by the City of Detroit Parks Department, and it was named for the east-side neighborhood and park it serves. That park, Chandler Park, is one of Detroit's largest at roughly 200 acres, with sports fields, a golf course, a skate park, and an aquatic center. The branch was an early adopter of technology within the system, receiving its first public computers in 1989. Today it offers free WiFi, public computers, and MobilePrint through the Princh app, along with book clubs and community meeting space. Chandler Park keeps evening hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays and participates in the Detroit Public Library's annual summer reading program.
