Pungo-Blackwater Library is the southernmost branch of the Virginia Beach Public Library system, reaching the Pungo and Blackwater communities — the rural farming corridor that makes up Virginia Beach's expansive southern section. Virginia Beach is geographically the largest U.S. city by land area, and the Pungo-Blackwater region, with its strawberry farms, the Pungo Strawberry Festival, and the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge corridor, is a world apart from the oceanfront resort north. Positioned at 916 Princess Anne Road (U.S. Route 615), the branch provides the only public library service point for a vast rural territory.
